Backend manager: you run the machine
Chatters win conversations; the backend manager makes sure the whole operation runs — every shift staffed, every conversation up to standard, every week reported honestly. This is an operations job in an industry that mostly runs on chaos. We do not.
The role, honestly
You own the chat schedule across time zones, review conversation quality against each creator's persona doc, catch boundary violations before they become problems, and turn raw account data into the weekly reports our creators actually read.
You are also the escalation point: when a fan situation, a chatter question, or a creator concern needs a decision, it comes to you first. Judgment and calm matter more here than any tool skill.
A day in the role
Daily
Check overnight hand-offs, confirm shift coverage for the next 24 hours, and spot-review conversations from the highest-revenue accounts. Problems get flagged the day they happen, not in a monthly review.
Weekly
Build the itemized revenue and churn report per creator, run quality reviews with individual chatters, and adjust schedules and scripts based on what the numbers actually say.
Ongoing
Maintain the persona docs and boundary lists as creators evolve, onboard new chatters against them, and keep the hand-off standard high across the whole team.
How you fit in the team
You work directly with the founders and have real authority over the chat operation: scheduling, quality standards, and escalations are yours. Small team, short lines, no middle layers.
Compensation
Compensation is a fixed base with performance upside tied to the accounts you oversee. Specifics depend on experience and scope and are discussed openly in the interview.
Where this goes
This is already a leadership seat. As the roster grows, the backend manager role grows with it — more accounts, more chatters, and a real say in how the operation scales.
