Chatter cost calculator
Compare the real cost of hiring your own chat team against an agency commission.
Typical starting points — your exact rate is individual, based on scope and the size of your account, and agreed in writing before anything starts.
DIY estimate adds 25% on top of wages for recruiting, training, management, and covering no-shows. It still excludes your own time spent supervising.

The structural difference
Hiring your own team is a fixed cost you pay in bad months too, plus you become a manager. Commission is a variable cost that includes recruiting, training, QA, strategy, and reporting. Below roughly $18,240 gross per month, commission is the cheaper option before counting your time.
Why the comparison is not just wage versus percentage
A chat team looks cheap when you price it as hours times an hourly rate. It stops looking cheap once you add the things that do not appear on a payslip: the weeks of recruiting to find someone who can actually write in your voice, the training before they are trusted with a paying fan, the shift you cover yourself when someone does not show up, and the ongoing job of checking that the tone in your inbox still sounds like you. The calculator adds a flat 25% on top of wages for that, which is conservative for a first hire and roughly right once a rota is running.
The larger difference is structural rather than numerical. Wages are a fixed cost. They are the same in the month a platform outage halves your traffic, the same in the month you are ill, and the same during the two weeks you take off. A commission is variable by definition: if the account earns nothing, it costs nothing. For creators whose income moves month to month — which is most of them — that difference matters more than the headline figures.
The third cost the calculator cannot price is the one creators notice last. The moment you hire, you are managing people. Rotas, sick days, payroll, performance conversations, and the awkward one where someone has been copying replies from another account. That work is real, it is unpaid, and it comes out of the same hours you were trying to buy back.
How to read the crossover point
The figure the tool calls the crossover is the monthly gross at which the two options cost the same. Below it, a commission is cheaper before you count your time; above it, your own team is cheaper in pure cash and the question becomes whether you want to run one. Move the wage slider first, because it moves the crossover more than anything else: a team at three dollars an hour and a team at fifteen are not the same product, and the cheap one usually shows up in your refund rate.
Coverage is the second lever. Twenty-four hour coverage is roughly three full-time positions once breaks, holidays and handovers are accounted for, not one person working long days. If you set the slider to 24 and the number surprises you, that is why.
Common questions
How much does an OnlyFans chatter cost per month?
A single full-time chatter at typical market wages of five to ten dollars an hour runs roughly 900 to 1,800 dollars a month before overhead. Round-the-clock coverage needs about three of those, so full 24/7 staffing sits in the 3,000 to 7,000 dollar range once recruiting, training and cover for absences are included.
Is it cheaper to hire chatters than to pay agency commission?
It depends almost entirely on your revenue. Below the crossover the calculator shows, commission is cheaper. Above it, wages are cheaper in cash terms — but you take on recruiting, training, scheduling and quality control yourself, and you carry the wage bill in slow months.
What does an agency commission include that wages do not?
Recruiting and vetting, training, quality control on tone and pricing, shift cover, plus the strategy layer around the inbox: what gets sent, to whom, at what price, and when. A wage buys hours in the inbox; it does not buy the system around them.
