OnlyFans Creator Verification: What You Need and Why It Gets Rejected

How identity verification works for OnlyFans creators as we see it when onboarding creators: the documents and selfies it asks for, how long approval usually takes, the four reasons it fails most often, and how to keep your documents safe.

Written by Jonathan F. Published

Before you can run an OnlyFans page as a creator, the platform has to verify that you are who you say you are and that you are an adult. It is a short process when it goes right and a frustrating one when it does not, because a rejection does not always say exactly what was wrong.

This guide is based on what we see when we onboard creators onto our roster. OnlyFans changes its process from time to time and it can differ by country, so the instructions on your own screen are what count. But the documents, the timing and the reasons for rejection have been consistent for us.

What creator verification asks for

On the accounts we onboard, verification asks for three things:

  • A photo of your ID, front and back. A passport, national ID card or driving licence. It has to be valid and fully readable.
  • A selfie holding that ID. Your face and the document in the same photo, so the two can be matched.
  • A live selfie or face scan. A short check through your camera in the browser or app, which confirms a real person is doing the verification right now.

Have all of it ready before you start. Stopping halfway to find your passport is the most common reason a simple process turns into a second attempt.

How long it takes

For the creators we onboard, approval usually comes through in under 24 hours. A rejection takes about as long, which is why getting it right the first time matters: every resubmission adds another wait before you can launch.

If you are planning a launch, verify first and build the rest of the page while you wait. Our guide to starting an OnlyFans walks through the first 30 days in order.

The four reasons verification fails

1. Blurry or cropped photos. All four corners of the document must be visible, the text must be sharp, and there should be no glare across the photo or the name. Shoot on a plain, dark surface in daylight, and check the photo at full size before you upload it.

2. The name does not match. The name on your ID has to match the legal name you enter in your account details. Nicknames, a married name the ID does not show, or a different spelling are enough for a rejection. Your stage name is separate; the verification is about your legal identity.

3. An expired ID. Check the expiry date before you start. An ID that expired last month is still an expired ID.

4. Filters and edited photos. Beauty filters, face smoothing, portrait mode and some phone camera “enhancements” can make your selfie look different enough from your ID to fail. Use the plain camera, no filters, good light, and look straight at the lens.

A checklist before you upload

  • ID valid, not expired, and in your legal name.
  • Account details use exactly the name on the ID.
  • Photos taken in daylight, all corners visible, no glare, no fingers over the text.
  • Selfie with the ID: face and document both sharp, nothing covering either.
  • Plain camera, no filters, no beauty mode, no edits.
  • A quiet ten minutes for the live check, with a camera that works in your browser or the app.

If you are rejected

Read the message, then go through the four reasons above in order; one of them is almost always it. Retake the photos from scratch rather than re-uploading the same ones, and fix any name mismatch in your account details first. If you are rejected again with no clear reason, contact OnlyFans support from inside your account.

Keeping your documents safe

Your ID is the most sensitive thing you will ever upload for this work, so a few rules:

  • Upload it only inside OnlyFans’ own verification flow. Never send ID photos by email, DM or chat to anyone who says they are from OnlyFans support.
  • Be suspicious of “verification help”. Offers to verify an account for you, or to sell you an already verified one, are scams or worse.
  • Delete the photos from your camera roll afterwards, or move them somewhere private, so they are not sitting in a cloud backup or an album you share.

If you work with an agency, the account and the verification stay in your name; you should never hand your identity over to someone else. We wrote about whether an agency owns your account and the agency scams to watch for.

Not the same as age checks for fans

Much of what you will read about “OnlyFans verification” is about subscribers, not creators: the age checks fans go through to view adult content. That is a separate system. In the UK, for example, the regulator Ofcom fined OnlyFans’ operator £1.05 million in March 2025 for giving it inaccurate information about the facial age estimation used for fans. None of that changes what you need as a creator, but it is why the two get mixed up in search results.

Questions creators ask

What do you need to get verified on OnlyFans as a creator?

In our experience onboarding creators: a photo of a valid ID front and back, a selfie holding that ID, and a short live selfie or face scan. The on-screen instructions in your account are what count, as the process can change.

How long does OnlyFans creator verification take?

For the creators we onboard, approval usually comes through in under 24 hours. A rejection and resubmission adds another wait, so it is worth getting the photos right the first time.

Why was my OnlyFans verification rejected?

Most often because of blurry or cropped ID photos, a name that does not match the ID, an expired ID, or a selfie taken with filters or beauty mode. Fix those and retake the photos from scratch.

Is OnlyFans ID verification safe?

Upload your documents only inside OnlyFans’ own verification flow, never by email or DM to anyone claiming to be support, and delete the photos from your camera roll afterwards.
