OnlyFans Caption Ideas: What to Write Under Posts, Previews and PPV

Caption ideas for the four places captions do real work on OnlyFans: feed posts, locked previews, pay-per-view messages and promo posts elsewhere. Example structures written for this article, and the habits that make fans scroll past.

Written by Jonathan F. Published

A caption is the line that decides whether a fan stops, replies or unlocks. On a feed post it starts a conversation. On a locked message it is the whole sales pitch. Most creators write the same three words under everything, and it shows.

This guide covers what a caption has to do in each place it appears, example structures written for this article, and the habits that train fans to scroll past.

Where captions actually matter

  • Feed posts. The caption gives subscribers a reason to like, comment or message you, instead of just looking.
  • Locked previews. On a pay-per-view post or message the caption and the blurred preview are all a fan sees before deciding to pay.
  • Mass messages. The first line decides whether the message gets opened at all.
  • Promo posts elsewhere. A Reddit title or an X post caption has to earn a click without breaking that platform’s rules.

Each place needs a different kind of caption. The mistake is writing one style for all four.

Feed post captions: start a conversation

On the accounts we manage, roughly 74% of net revenue comes from messages. The feed’s job is to get people into the inbox, so the best feed captions are easy to answer.

Structures that work (examples written for this article):

  • A question with an easy answer. “Red or black for Friday’s set? Wrong answers only.”
  • A small confession. “Took 40 photos to get this one. The other 39 are in DMs if you ask nicely.”
  • A choice. “Next week: beach set or the one I shot at home? Comment and I’ll go with the winner.”
  • A callback. “You asked for more of the green dress. Here it is.” Fans love seeing their request turn into a post.

For what to post in the first place, see what to post on OnlyFans.

Captions for locked previews and PPV

Here the caption is a sales pitch, and honesty sells better than hype. A fan should be able to picture what they are paying for.

  • Say what it is. Length, setting, outfit, one detail. “Twelve minutes, the red set, shot by the window at sunset” beats “you’ll love this.”
  • Say why it is for them. “You asked about the red set last week, so this one’s for you” turns a mass offer into a personal one.
  • Keep the price out of the text. The lock already shows it. A caption that leads with the price reads like an ad.
  • Never oversell. A fan who feels misled by a preview stops buying, and tells you so.

Promo captions on other platforms

Outside OnlyFans, the caption has two jobs: get attention, and stay within the platform’s rules. Keep it safe for work, short, and specific to the post. On Reddit, the title is the caption, and each subreddit has its own rules about what a title may say; our Reddit guide covers that. On X, label adult media and keep the text about personality; see promoting OnlyFans on X.

A useful habit: write promo captions that make sense even to someone who has never heard of you. “First time trying this outfit, be honest” works for a stranger. “Part 3!!” does not.

Caption habits that make fans scroll past

  • The same caption every day. “New post, check DMs” on every post teaches fans that captions say nothing.
  • Emoji instead of words. Three emojis are not a caption. One clear sentence is.
  • Copied captions. Fans subscribe to several creators and recognise lines that do the rounds. A caption list is a starting point, not a script; we wrote about why the good scripts are not scripts.
  • Asking for nothing. A caption without a question, a choice or a reason to reply wastes the post’s best chance at a conversation.
  • Not answering the replies. If a caption asks a question and nobody answers the comments, the next caption gets fewer.

A simple weekly routine

Captions are easier in batches. Once a week, when you plan your posts, write the captions with them: one question, one confession or choice, one callback to something fans asked for, and the PPV descriptions for the week. Our content calendar guide shows how to fit that into a week without it taking over.

Questions creators ask

What is a good OnlyFans caption?

One that gives fans a reason to reply or unlock: a question with an easy answer, a choice, a small confession or a precise description of what is behind the lock. Specific beats clever.

What should I write on a locked PPV post?

Say what it is (length, setting, outfit, one detail) and why it is for them. Leave the price out of the text, because the lock already shows it, and never promise more than the content delivers.

Can I copy OnlyFans captions from a list?

Use lists for ideas and structure, then rewrite them in your own voice. Fans follow several creators and recognise copied lines.

Do captions matter on OnlyFans?

Yes, mostly because they decide whether a fan replies or unlocks. A caption that starts a conversation moves fans into messages, which is where most of the money on a managed account is made.
